Balcony fall man impaled

A British man yesterday plunged from a fourth-floor balcony and impaled his leg on a sunshade pole.

The incident happened just after 10am at an apartment block in the resort of San Antonio on the holiday island of Ibiza.

The man, 31, suf fered severe injury to his right calf after landing in an open-air bar. Medics took nearly an hour to stabilise him before taking him to be treated in the Can Misses hospital in Ibiza town.

A second Brit, 19, was also being treated in the same hospital yesterday after falling from a second-floor balcony in the same resort, three hours earlier.
