-

twice just added insult to injury.” Brian Cranston, 56, from Dalkeith, Midlothian, claims TUI are refusing passengers full compensation for the holiday ordeal. His luggage arrived three days late on the Tuesday. However, wife Yvonne’s did not arrive till the Thursday. Lorraine Kennedy, 56 , from Peterhead, got her missing case back three days into the cruise. But husband Leslie, 65, did not get his back until the Sunday – a week later. On the day of their return home, the case again went missing and was found by Lorraine dumped near the ship’s luggage carousel. The passengers’ ordeal began when they left Edinburgh airport on August 12 for the TUI cruise around Spain, having paid up to £2000 per head. When they arrived in Malaga to board the ship, 30 cases were still in Scotland. The passengers were unable to attend dinners with the captain or use some restaurants because their formal clothes were missing. Some had packed essential medication with one person charged more than £100 by the ship’s doctor for replacements.

British Airways said: “We carry up to a million bags a month and it is extremely rare for any of these to be delayed.

“We will always offer customers the option of buying replacement items they need in the meantime, and can claim back the cost from us. When customers are on a cruise, this would include outfits and toiletries from the on-board shops.”

TUI said:’ We would like to apologise to any Marella Cruise customers who faced issues in receiving their suitcases during their cruise. We supported customers where possible and offered to cover the costs of essential items.”
