Aitken revels in Sons fightback

-

Relieved Dumbarton boss Stevie Aitken praised his battlers after they came from behind to earn their first league win in four matches.

Craig Johnston’s diving header put Montrose ahead just before the break.

But Aitken’s men fought back through an Andy Dowie header and Ross Forbes penalty in the space of two second-half minutes.

Montrose’s misery was compounded in 73 minutes when Michael Bolochoweckyj

saw red for lashing out at Ryan Thomson off the ball and boss Stewart Petrie was sent to the stand for dissent.

Sons gaffer Aitken said: “The players fought for each other and got their reward.”

Petrie said: “I have no complaints with my red. Credit to Dumbarton, they gave Stevie everything.”
