Warning over retirement

The Bank of England governor has warned workers may not be able to retire in the future.

Mark Carney also said automation was a fourth industrial revolution that would threaten one in 10 jobs.

He said: “Unlike in the previous industrial revolutions, the more rapid pace of adjustment and longer working lives means workers may not have the option of retiring.” He said people would face the prospect of career changes in later life that would require retraining.
