Neil Lennon last night filleted ref Don Robertson and claimed Hibs were playing against 12 men in their 4-2 defeat to Celtic.
The frustrated Easter Road boss insists the financial gulf between the two clubs means Hibs are never going to contend with the Hoops for the title.
But Lenny, who also appeared to have stern words with Celtic No. 2 Chris Davies, insists their hopes
weren’t helped by an “abysmal” referee.
He said: “I’m sick of hearing this title contention stuff. They’ve got a budget of £60million, they’ve got a £9m striker and I’ve got free transfers and rejects from other clubs who are playing brilliantly for me every week. I’m really pleased with what I saw in the second half but over a 38-game season it’s very difficult to maintain that, especially against the quality we faced today.
“And we knew we were playing against 12 men, that makes it very difficult. I thought the referee was abysmal.
“How Filip Benkovic doesn’t get a yellow card and Darren McGregor does is beyond me. He’s taken Emerson Hyndman completely out of the game andd we get a free-kick on the edge of the box and no yellow card. I’m not here to get players sent off, I just want the referee to do his job properly.”
Lennon refused to comment on his post-match spat with Hoops No.2 Chris Davies.
