Of course I feel nervous.. but that’s a good thing

-

Edith has admitted she will battle stage fright as she hosts the Baftas tonight.

But Radio 1 presenter says being nervous is a good thing.

She said: “There will be nerves. I will definitely be holding down the sick, to be honest, in a room full of massively talented people that I admire hugely both in front of and behind of the camera.

“Some of them I’m in awe of and some I’m inspired by. To stand up in front of them and try to hold that room for three hours, of course there’s nerves.”

Edith, who got her break on MTV in 2001, added: “I’m always nervous. When I’m not will be when it is time to stop and move on.

“Nerves are a good thing. They keep you on your toes and keep you grounded. It can be a good thing if you don’t let it overwhelm you.

“Bafta Scotland’s production team is like having a safety net. I know I can count on them.”

Anstruther-born Edith will have moral support from her biggest fans – mum Eleanor and dad Sandy.

She said: “I’d get up to Anstruther a lot more before the kids were at school, just because we could.

“With the kids not getting out of school at 4pm on a Friday it’s hard because, by the time we get up there, Saturday is pretty much that we’ve got. But we still try to get up as much as we can. We were up in August and I try to get up even if it is just for a weekend. I should try to get there more often.”

She added: “Obviously, I’m up this weekend, but I’m still not going to get through to mum and dad, so they are coming to the show.

“It’s kind of like a bit of a tradition. I get a plus two for the night and they are always my plus two. Every year I have hosted it they have come through and they’re my good luck charms. “Also, because they’re my parents, they’re not going to give me a critique of the show. It’s a nice environment for them and they always have a good night whether I have had a good show or not.”
