The Government and the Competition and Markets Authority Au will investigate claims cla customers are being charged ch different prices for the th same products.
Some online firms use customer cu profiling to adjust prices pr based on factors such as where people live and whether wh they are married.
Business Secretary Greg Clark, Cl announcing the probe, pr says they will look at at whether “personalised pricing” pr is preventing shoppers pe getting the best deals.
Clark said: “We are clear that th companies should not be abusing this technology and customer data to treat consumers, particularly vulnerable ones, unfairly.”
