After The Wanted, who had 10 Top 10 hits, went their separate ways, Max moved to America, and swiftly won a role in hit US drama Glee playing bad boy Clint – the first audition he went to.
He has been dating US model and beauty queen Carrie Baker for four years but admits he’s also fallen in love with acting and hasn’t ruled out doing more in the future.
He said: “I love acting but have decided to concentrate on my music for now.
“I kept getting call backs for Hunter Killer which stars Gerard Butler but the timings weren’t working out so I had to pull out
“I’m signed to the Creative Artists Agency in the States and will go to auditions if I have time.
“My dream would be to star in a sequel to The Greatest Showman. I love that film and have watched it more than 20 times. I would also like to do a more gritty movie but for now music is my priority.”
Max hasn’t ruled out the possibility of The Wanted getting back together in the future but is focused on his first ever solo gig in Scotland at the Armadillo.
He said: “I was so honoured to be asked to play at the Young Scot Awards. I couldn’t wait to phone my dad and tell him as he knows how much I used to love playing Glasgow.
“My first Scots appearance with The Wanted was at the Clyde Auditorium so it’s nice to be making my Scottish solo debut there too. It’s like I’ve come full circle.
“Glasgow has to be one of the greatest audiences in the world. It’s definitely the loudest audience and the most passionate and I can’t wait to see how they receive me.”
Max, who shares top billing at the awards with alternative rocker Tom Grennan, added: “I think it is massively important for young people to be recognised for the incredible things they are doing.
“They are not only the next generation, they are our future that’s why awards like these are so important and I feel privileged to be able to play my part in them.” So what have the other Wanted boys been doing during their hiatus? the UK and LA.
