as a child. Last month, he was sentenced to 18 years at the High Court in Edinburgh for masterminding the terrifying robbery.

The Flying Squad are a branch of the Met’s Serious and Organised Crime Command. Their purpose is to investigate robberies along with any serious firearm crimes.

Fleming was previously jailed for nine years at the Old Bailey in London in 2007 for possessing a firearm. He and Liam Richardson, 30, stole 50 Rolex watches from the Mappin & Webb boutique at Gleneagles. Richardson, also of London, was sentenced to 11 years and four months.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how staff at the hotel thought the gang were carrying out a terrorist attack as Fleming threatened them with the gun, a machete and a hammer.

Gl ene a g l e s security superviser Euan Wishart told the court he was threatened with the gun on two occasions by Fleming.

Fleming’s older sister Kirsty, 45, and mother Janette Mcgregor, 64, who live in Glasgow’s Parkhead, had been charged with assisting the robbery but had not guilty pleas accepted.

The pair had been charged with handling stolen high-value goods taken during earlier robberies. Kirsty Fleming had also been charged with obstructing police and perverting the course of justice.
