Martin Canning praised his squad for winning with 10 men and proving they could do it without key men Darian Mackinnon and Dougie Imrie.

The Hamilton boss was thrilled with the three points despite his most experienced duo banned and sitting in the stand.

Mason Bloomfield’s late winner came seconds after Mikel Miller’s red card.

While Canning has urged his players to keep their discipline better, he is delighted with their battling qualities.

He said: “It was a huge three points for us. There wasn’t a lot in the game and there wasn’t a lot of quality.

“The back four were fantastic and the midfielders picked up a lot of second balls.

“We got Fredrik through in the first half and if we score then it could have been a different game.

“In the second half Gary Woods has to make a great save. There wasn’t a lot in it but it is a great win.

“Mason hasn’t had many chances but his attitude has been spot on.

“He will feel a million dollars right now and rightly so.”

Commenting on the red card, Canning added: “You can see why it was given. He was a bit naive. “We can’t keep losing players every week and we will speak about it.

“Darian and Dougie epitomise the way we go about our business. To miss them and still have enough is pleasing.”
