2 arrests after race hate rant at Hearts

-

Two Hearts fans have been arrested over allegedly racial abuse of a Mother well player yesterday.

Police have been given footage which shows about 20 fans in the main stand at Tynecastle Park making comments towards ’ Well defender Christian Mbulu, 22, as he warmed up at the side of the pitch.

Hearts said they were aware of the incident and were helping police.

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson said the abuse of Mbulu, who was born in England, was “an absolute disgrace”.

He told BBC Scotland: “I’ve seen the video of it. I thought this was 2018 but that was the dark ages and dinosaur stuff.

“For a player to have to take that kind of stuff is disgusting. They should not be anywhere near football. There is no place for that in any walk of life.”

Hearts won the game 1- 0, thanks to a 14th- minute goal by Peter Haring.

The Edinburgh club said: “We are aware of an incident of alleged racism during the second half of today’s match against Motherwel l and a re cooperating ful ly with police on the matter.

“Heart of Midlothian Football Club abhor racism and all forms of abuse. The individuals in question will receive indefinite bans from Tynecastle Park.”

Police said: “Two subjects were arrested at the Hearts v Motherwell match and wi l l be reported to the procurator fiscal.” Stars of hit BBC drama Killing Eve, Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, looked down in the dumps as they filmed scenes for the second series in the rain in Rome.

Jodie, who plays assassin Villanelle, and Sandra – MI5 agent Eve Polastri, who is tracking the killer – couldn’t hide their gloom between takes.

An onlooker said: “Neither Jodie nor Sandra looked happy, they appeared fed-up.”
