Marco: We will stay strong to protect record in Glasgow

-

Marco Rose has warned Celtic to expect no mercy in this week’s crunch Europa League showdown at Parkhead.

The Red Bull Salzburg gaffer is desperate to preserve his side’s 100 per cent record in the group and is vowing to field his strongest side.

But the Austrian champs were perilously close to blowing this season’s 29-game unbeaten run in all competitions yesterday.

They scrambled a 2-2 draw at Austrian bottom side Admira Wacker after coming from behind.

The Hoops need just a point to go through to the next stage of the Europa League on Thursday after excellent wins against RB Leipzig and Rosenborg.

But Salzburg have breezed through the section and beat Celtic 3-1 in Austria.

Rose said last night: “I wi l l play my s t ronges t team possible. Certainly, no one will be rested.

“We go to Scotland to win the game.

“Of course we want to enjoy the famous atmosphere but we want to protect our record and get 18 points out of 18.

“Some of our players have already told me about Parkhead because a few have played there before.

“We want to win and if possible win in some style. My aim is to be a part of a good football game which sees us win of course.”

Rose also refused to slam his players for their lacklustre display yesterday. He said: “It happens in football. You cannot be brilliant every single week.

“A draw was a fair result and we have kept our unbeaten record.

“The goals we lost were avoidable though and we need to maybe look at that.

“I would rather concentrate on the spirit of my players. They don’t know how to lose.

“They could have easily have been defeated but they came back strongly. We lost a lot of individual duels too but you cannot win every Admira Wacker ..... 2 Salzburg ................. 2 Mark Walker
