Boat crash victim’s dad rages at killer
The father of speedboat crash victim Charlotte Brown has blasted claims by her killer that he had thought of marrying her.
Graham Brown, 55, said his daughter was “too smart” to have a serious relationship with Jack Shepherd.
The killer claims he had considered ma r r y ing Charlotte. But he wed his long-term girlfriend just two months after Charlotte’s death and had entertained up to 10 other women on his badly-maintained boat.
Reacting to Shepherd’s comments yesterday, Graham, of Sidcup, Kent, said: “Jack Shepherd was so serious about my daughter that he went out and married another woman.
“My daughter would have soon got the measure of Shepherd. She was too smart and would have soon seen through him.”
Self-confessed womaniser Shepherd was on his first date with Charlotte, 24, when she drowned after he took her out for a drunken speedboat ride on the River Thames in December 2015.
Shepherd went on the run when his trial was due to start. He was convicted in his absence of manslaughter by gross negligence and sentenced to six years.
The 31-year- old handed himsel f in to pol ice in Georgia last month.
Graham said: “He needs to come back and serve his sentence and represent himsel f at his appeal , rather than try to frustrate the British legal system from Georgia.”
