New addition to Sean’s team is pro Irish dancer

Laura, 33, who has just joined Sean Batty on the new-look STV weather team, uses her hobby to relax away from the glare of the cameras.

She S said: “I joined six years ago and an it’s the best fun I’ve had. It’s a brilliant bri group and the craic is great.

“As wel l as staging our own production­s, pro we perform at weddings and an events and have done several shows sh at the Edinburgh Fringe.”

Laura L is delighted with her new role rol alongside Sean and production journalist jou Philip Petrie but has had to undergo a makeover.

The Th Napier University graduate, who wh spent her early years in Fettercair­n, Fe Aberdeensh­ire, and prefers thermals and walking boots, said: “Luckily, I have supportive colleagues who have been giving me guidance on wearing bold colours.”

She is thrilled to be doing her new job. She said: “I’ve always had a great love of the environmen­t, so being asked to join Sean’s team is a dream come true for me.”

Af ter a master’s degree in journalism at Harvard University, Laura produced Lesley Riddoch’s radio show for BBC Scotland before joining STV eight years ago, where she has been an online journalist and features writer.

Her first job in journalism was making tea at Talk 107, and she stayed on as a trainee producer.

She said: “My new role is the icing on the cake.”
