Former Rangers captain Lorenzo Amoruso says Celtic would be Premier League champions in just two years if they moved to England. The Italian insists their Old Firm rivals and his club Rangers would also be up there challenging if they headed south. Both Celtic and Rangers have pleaded to move to English football over the last few decades in search of the vast riches on offer for teams in England’s top flight. Neither side has received much encouragement from down south as clubs seek to protect what they currently have. Despite that Amoruso, who won three titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups during a staggeringly successful stint at Ibrox, insists both should resurrect their attempts to move to English football. He said: “When I was at Rangers I was hoping they would allow both us and Celtic to move to the English Premier League. “The teams in England who were battling for European places were the clubs who always fought against it. “Everyone knows that the Old Firm teams would both be incredibly successful because they have an incredible number of fans behind them. “Celtic would be fighting for the English Premier League title within two or three years because the money they would bring in from merchandise would be absolutely crazy. Rangers too. “When I was playing for Rangers, I had a following of thousands and thousands of fans. “In my opinion, both of those clubs have an unbelievable untapped potential.”
