Calum on cusp of Tour card after triumph

-

Calum Hill is just one win off graduating to the European Tour after picking up his second title in three starts.

The Scot clinched a one-shot victory at the Made in Denmark Challenge after finishing all four rounds in the 60s.

Hill teed off on the final day of the Challenge Tour event in a five-way tie for the lead but birdied his first two holes en route to a five-under 67.

His winning total of 22-under 266 is the latest chapter in a momentous month that has seen him play four tournaments in a combined 67 under.

The 24-year-old finished as the jointtop Scot at the Scottish Open then won the Euram Bank Open and finished tied-third at the Finnish Challenge.

Now his win in Skanderborg leaves him on the cusp of being handed his European Tour card under the threewin rule if he comes out on top in another tourney this season. Hill, now second in the Challenge Tour rankings, said: “A third win would be the best outcome if that were able to happen.

“If not I’ll carry on for the rest of the season and hope to stay in that top 15 and get a European Tour card for next year. But I’m very happy with how things have panned out and I can’t complain at all.”

Swede Joel Sjoholm finished runnerup after a 68 as the Scot survived a bogey five on the 17th to lift silverware.

Hill said: “I had a fantastic week up in Scotland with it being my first taste of a Rolex Series event. Having a nice finish there just put a little cherry on top and gave me a bit of confidence.

“Then winning in Austria was a really big kick up and it got me feeling good.

“I didn’t get it done in Finland but I’m very happy to have another good week in Denmark. If you can keep having good weeks it makes a big difference.”
