Goal-snatching is Paw of the jungle
Currie saved a Robbie Buchanan penalty.
Boss Bollan said: “It’s a good start at home but I would like us to win being more entertaining. It wasn’t a great game but a great finish from Kris.”
Binos’ chief Kevin Rutkiewicz said: “Our finishing was poor.” Edinburgh City....2 Brechin Cty............1 Dundee United star Lawrence Shankland insists he won’t fall out with Peter Pawlett for nicking a goal off him at Partick on Friday night.
Shankland has netted five times in two league games for Robbie Neilson’s side – but it would have been six had Pawlett not toe- poked the former Ayr United’ striker’s effort home in the 2-1 win at Firhill. Shankland revealed: “Peter said sorry for taking the second goal but I don’t really care. I was just delighted to see somebody putting it in because I was lying on the floor.”
Shankland netted 34 goals for Ayr last term and big things are now expected of him at Tannadice. The hitman said of his success: “Getting belief in myself – that was probably my biggest thing.
“Now I’ve got myself to a big club and I’m really enjoying it. I don’t feel pressure now. I’ll back myself to get goals and thankfully it’s started not bad.”
Meanwhile, Joe Cardle insists Patrick need to focus on the football and ignore the club’s off-the-field troubles.
A boardroom coup was followed by the loss of lottery winner Colin Weir’s investment and players’ transport to away games being axed.
Cardle said: “At the end of the day we get paid to play football – that’s what we’re here to do.”
