Flynn’s settled on boss

- Scott McDermott

Ryan Flynn is already on his fourth St Mirren manager in the space of just 20 months in Paisley.

And he has probably lost count of the number of different team-mates he’s had, after a huge turnover of players.

The Buddies midfielder doesn’t want to tempt fate but he finally feels, under new boss Jim Goodwin, the Paisley side can regain some stability.

Flynn only signed in January 2018 for Jack Ross but has worked under Alan Stubbs and Oran Kearney since then.

He’s now hoping Saints can get on an even keel again with former player Goodwin at the helm.

The 30-year-old said: “I’ve never been at a club where there has been so much change in a short time.

“Last year here was incredible, it was just never settled. Since Ross left it has been a rollercoaster ride and it was just great to get over the line and stay up last season.

“At times last season you felt as if you were always introducing yourself to new players.

“Hopefully, this year will be more settled.

“Now we’ve boys coming in on two-year deals which is better. It’s never good in football to be chopping and changing all the time.

“The teams that do well have normal ly been together over a long period of time.

“Already, I feel we’ve a bit of stabi l ity back under the new gaffer, his organisation around the place is great.

“There’s a different feel to it – it’s night and day.

“I’m looking forward to this season.

“It’s going to take time and everyone’s aware we need more bodies in.

“But the players who have arrived have started well and hopefully will settle quickly.”
