Labour, said: “I think the Law Society need to look at his registration and see how they can protect the public.”
She noted that Anderson remained free to take domestic abuse cases, and said: “It would be a concern to me if he were dealing with people in domestic abuse situations,
“At the very least, his registration should be limited not to deal with criminal cases, because he himself has a criminal conviction.”
Scottish Greens justice spokesman John Finnie MSP said: “The public wi l l be concerned, as I am, to hear that a convicted domestic abuser is able to continue in a position of trust and influence.”
At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Anderson admitted seizing his wife’s hair, pulling her across a car park at the Fenwick Hotel in Ayrshire and pushing her into his car in May 2017. He was ordered to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work. After a hearing in June this year, the Law Society of Scotland found him guilty of professional misconduct after the case was referred to them by the Scottish Sol icitors’ Discipl inary
