Well winger is Dutch of class for Robinson

obvious for me what we need to change and how we need to do it. We’re short in key positions.”

Sherwin Seedorf , Liam Donnel l y ’ s penalt y and Jermaine Hylton won it for Well and Heck added: “We demand better, especially in one-on-one situations. A pretty team got dominated today in key moments. We worked hard but we were too easy to play against.

“Some of the players are under-performing but it will improve, without a doubt. It’ll be reflected in the teams I pick and the business we do in the next transfer window.

“You might play pretty stuff and have a half-decent season. But we want to be better than that.” Sherwin Seedorf scored a goal worthy of his name to send Motherwell on their way to victory.

The Dutch winger’s first- half strike was one his distant relative Clarence would have been proud of, rifling into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Top scorer Liam Donnelly buried a penalty after Adam Jackson had handled in the box before sub Jermaine Hylton killed off Hibs. It was a comprehensive win for the Steelmen and it heaped misery on the Easter Road side and their gaffer Paul Heckingbottom. Af ter conceding the second goal, a small group of away fans vented their anger by chanting: “Hecky get to f**k.” Motherwell thoroughly deserved their victory and should have won by a lot more. Striker Chris Long missed two gilt-edged chances that could have secured the points a lot sooner for Stephen Robinson’s men. Match- winner Seedorf now believes there’s no reason why they can’t gate-crash the Premiership’s top half this season. He said: “We’re capable of doing it, as long as we focus on ourselves. “That was the best feeling to score today. I’ve been waiting on it for a long time and it’s great to get my first goal at Fir Park. “That’s one of the best I’ve scored in my career. “It was a great all-round performance from the team. We still have a bit to go but we’re moving in the right direction.

“There’s more to come from me – I’m still trying to get fitter.

“I want to score more goals and get these fans off their seats.”

Hibs actually started brightly and looked a threat going forward.

Flo Kamberi’s shot was saved by keeper Mark Gillespie and Stevie Mallan went close with a free-kick.

But they were given a warning by Well when Long got in twice early on. He should have scored from a clever Liam Polworth pass but was denied by Ofir Marciano.

And then striker Long fired over from a corner, as the home side turned the screw.

Robinson’s decision to deploy young striker James Scott on the right worked a treat.

A goal was coming and Seedorf produced a moment of magic in 22 minutes. He cut inside Steven Whittaker and gave Marciano no chance with a fantastic finish. That should have forced a reaction from Hibs but Heckingbottom’s side went into their shell. Kamberi missed a chance from a Scott Allan pass but they were second best all over the pitch.

Declan Gallagher almost made it 2- 0 but was foiled by Marciano then Long squandered a clear-cut opportunity when the Israeli saved from point-blank range.

The home side should have had a penalty when Whittaker pulled Hylton – but ref Steven McLean couldn’t deny them with 10 minutes lef t when Jackson handled as he went for a header with Gallagher.

Donnelly, who has scored eight goals from eight games this term, made no mistake from the spot.

Hibs’ players threw the towel in which resulted in fans voicing their displeasure at the manager.

Motherwell were attacking on the break, cutting through their opponents at will. And Hylton cut in from the left before smashing in a third to clinch victory late on.

Delighted Well gaffer Robinson heaped praise on young Scott and said: “It was a dominant display. We were dynamic in the areas of the park where we needed to be.

“James has huge potential. I’ve been his biggest fan since I first watched him at 15 years old.

“He has so much talent and we need to keep pushing him. I think we’ll make a lot of money on him.”
