My piano has gone Moussing

Gers legend’ wife loses her ivories

Ex- Celtic star Moussa Dembele is embroiled in a row over a piano that has gone missing from a house owned by former Rangers hero Trevor Steven.

The £19million striker rented the ex-Ibrox midfielder’s property while playing for the Hoops.

Now the 23-year- old has been dragged into a dispute between Steven, his wife Nadirha and Stuart and Lisa Monie – a couple who took over the lease when Dembele left.

It has been claimed the piano has been removed from the five-bedroom detached home in Bothwell, Lanarkshire.

Nadirha Steven lodged a complaint with Police Scotland over the instrument with a list of other items she claims have va n isheished, d, including a sofa.

But she said officers told her that the issue was a “c iv i l matter”.

Themum claims she has attempted to contact Dembele through Manchester-based sports lawyer David Seligman, an associate of the French player.

So far, she has failed to get the star’s confirmation that the piano was still in the £ 600,000 house when he moved out following his move to French Ligue 1 club Lyon.

Nadirha, 38, who is also French, said: “This is clearly not a civil matter.

“The piano has been removed along with other items of furniture which were on the inventory.

“Surely a potential theft merits a criminal investigation.”

She added: “I had no problems with Moussa when he was a tenant and the neighbours all liked him. “We contactedc David Seligman and he agreed that he would get in toutouch with him and try to help.

“HHe said he would ask MoMoussa to go over the inventorytor and ask about the piano.

“But that was weeks ago andan we’ve heard nothing.

“I was scheduled to be in LyonLy and was happy to meet him to talk about it.”

DembeleD was a tenant in the property for two years.

The Monies took over the lease in September 2018 but moved out five months later.

Countrywide estate agents managed the lease on behalf of the Stevens.

Nadirha contacted police over the items she claims are missing in March.

She said: “I don’t understand how something like this can happen and police say it’s not something they can investigate.”

Steven signed for Rangers from Everton in 1989 for £1.5million.

He left the Ibrox club for French side Marsei l les in 1991 for £ 5.5million before going back to Ibrox for £2.2million a year later.

The midfielder also gained 36 caps for England and was part of the squad that reached the semi-final of the 1990 World Cup.

Steven retired in 1997.

Dembele signed for Celtic from Fulham for just £ 500,000 in 2016 and scored 51 goals in just 91 games.

His form for the Parkhead club led to Lyon signing him for about £19.7million in August last year.

He has since been linked with a £50million move to Man United.

Mr Monie, a solicitor, declined to comment on the dispute when contacted.

Mr Seligman did not respond to our call.

A police spokeswoman said: “A complaint was received and, following inquiries, no criminality was established.”
