Explosives find at dump

Council workers who spotted explosive detonators at a recycling centre have been praised for having “averted a potential tragedy”.

George Burgess and Jim Durkin found a box with about 60 detonators in it at the Keith Recycling Centre, Banffshire, as well as one containing a hand plunger that could have set them off.

The boxes were destroyed by a bomb disposal unit.
