SAY OUI TO MONSIEUR!

-

Dangers lurk in every corner but Jane Williams’ charge is worth a good each-way poke.

Monsieur Lecoq was thought to be going chasing but victory in the Welsh Champion Hurdle on reappearance at Ffos Las made this a natural next target.

Williams’ youngster may have bombed in the County Hurdle at the Festival in March but he is a totally different proposition on testing ground.

The gelding has a 7lb higher mark to contend with here but he’ll still be going when many have had enough up the famous hill and he can score at decent odds.

Paul Nicholls could have a good time with a couple of very classy performers.

POLITOLOGUE (2.25) also handles soft going and can win the Shloer Chase. The grey has never won here but he will take all the beating with a repeat of his second to Altior in the Champion Chase in March.

He’s a bet and so is stablemate ECCO (3.30) in the Supreme Trial. He’s two from two this season and came sixth in the Triumph here last term. The form of that race is working out well with runner-up Coeur Sublime sluicing up on reappearance this term and Ecco can complete a Nicholls double.

KINGSWELL THEATRE (1.15) is definitely worth a bet in the Cross County Chase.

Michael Scudamore’s charge won this race two years ago and has run well in the Festival event since behind Tiger Roll.

BATTLEOVERDOYEN (2.50) is an exciting entry in the Florida Pearl Chase at Punchestown. We mentioned taking the ante-post 33/1 for the RSA about Gordon Elliott’s youngster before he duly hacked up to tumble those odds.

Battleoverdoyen looks every inch a chaser and he should be ready to tackle Graded company.

At Cork, keep an eye on JON SNOW (12.15). Willie Mullins’ horse has been working superbly on the gallops at Closutton and can enter the Supreme picture.
