three minutes as Euan East rifled low into the net.

Elgin gaffer Price said: “We needed to be patient but got caught with all four midfielders up the park and they equalised.”

Albion boss Kevin Harper said: “A dubious penalty gave them a lift but we showed our character.” Queen’s Park .....1 Stirling....................1 Frustrated bosses David Hopkin and Allan Johnston hit out at the late scrapping of yesterday’s match.

Referee Steven Reid called it off just before 2pm after officials inspected the pitch at Cappielow wearing their shoes.

Hopkin fumed: “The only concern was one area near the main stand. We are all bitterly disappointed the game is off – the pitch is more than playable.

“There are people travelling from Queen of the South and it the timing is not good enough.

“We were in early and everything was fine so there was no concern. Of course it was raining, it’s Greenock – it always rains in Greenock.

“How can three officials go on the pitch with shoes on. They should’ve been here earlier but then they slipped a couple of times and bounced a ball once and called it off.”

Queens boss Johnston said: “If there was any doubt at all we should have known earlier because we have people coming from Dumfries.

“The pitch looks good but I am old school and have played in all sorts of conditions. The fans will probably be here and be very disappointed.”

Ton chief executive Davie MacKinnon added: “I am just dumbfounded.”
