Top gun will fire his side to title

-

Colin Stein believes the destination of the title may be the only way to settle arguments over who is the Premiership’s top gun.

Rangers legend Stein has been hugely impressed with on-fire Gers hitman Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian proved his worth yet again with the winner in Thursday’s 1- 0 win over Kilmarnock – his 28th goal in 34 appearances this season.

Stein, who scored the opening goal in Rangers’ 1972 European Cup Winners’ Cup triumph, reckons the marksman – signed for just £1million in 2017 – has proved a stunning capture.

But he knows that comparisons will always be made with Celtic rival Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman only has 16 goals from 30 outings with the Hoops this term but, unlike Morelos, has netted in previous Old Firm clashes.

And, as the two prepare to battle for supremacy at Celtic Park this afternoon, St e in reckons the destination of the ultimate prize could be the deciding factor in the strikers’ head-to-head contest.

Stein, 72, said: “When Morelos came to the club it was for around £1m.

“He’s been a tremendous bargain for Rangers, don’t worry about that.

“But people seem to compare him to the big guy at Celtic – certainly they both score goals.

“The Celtic supporters will say their guy’s worth more and the Rangers supporters will say that Morelos is the top man.

“You can’t win an argument like that.

“It might just come down to whoever wins the league and it’s certainly set up for a great season.”
