- Alexander’s grey to make his class tell

Nick Alexander’s charge looks a cracking bet in the Borders as he returns to calmer waters.

The grey has a fine record here and he’s back in the type of contest where he should be competitive after going against the talented Epatante at Newbury.

The gelding has nothing of that standard to deal with against just three rivals and, with a small drop in the weights to go with a drop in class, Alexander’s ace can win.

Earlier, ALOOMOMO (12.50) is a fascinating contender in the handicap chase.

Useful for Warren Greatrex, the 10-year-old shaped well on debut for Sandy Thomson at Doncaster and can score with anything like a return to his old form.

BIG RIVER (3.00) has been running with credit in some hot races for Lucinda Russell and he can enjoy his fifth success at the

Borders venue on his easiest task for some time.

There is all-weather action at Southwell and the best bet there looks to be COSMELLI (2.20).

The seven-year- old struck on his only start here in 2018 and he can repeat that success having dropped back to a similar mark.

CAREFULLY SELECTED (1.05) can boost his Cheltenham credentials at Punchestown.

At face value, the shortish trip of two- and- a- half miles in the

Grade 3 novice chase isn’t ideal but the opposition is weak with City Island flopping last time.

Ruby Walsh has been talking all season about this one being made for the NH Chase in March and a victory here is on the cards.

ANDY DUFRESNE (2.40) can redeem himself in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novices’ Hurdle.

Gordon Elliott’s charge was shockingly turned over at Navan but he can get his Supreme bid back on track under Mark Walsh.
