We can draw on this

-

Anderlecht ....... 1 Livingston ........ 1

Gary Holt was happy with his side’s draw – but disappointed they didn’t beat the Belgian giants.

Lyndon Dykes gave the Lions a 51st-minute lead against Vincent Kompany’s side, but they were pegged back by Luka Adzic’s strike five minutes later.

Livi boss Holt, who handed forward Rodrigo Martins and keeper Brian Schwake second-half runs as trialists, said: “I thought the boys were excellent and we had the better chances in the game.

“Anderlecht are a good team but we more than matched them.”

Striker Dykes was a constant threat to a strong Anderlecht side.

He should have given Livi the lead in 25 minutes but failed to make meaningful contact with Stevie Lawless’ cross right in front of goal.

A minute later his shot from Aymen Souda’s lay-off flashed just wide.

But in 51 minutes he charged down Marco Kana’s clearance and ran through to slot past keeper Thomas Didillon.

But Livi’s joy was short lived as Adzic applied the f inishing touch to a lightning break.

Michel Vlap and Zakaria Bakkali went close for Anderlecht while Cova da Piedade forward Martins just failed to convert Craig Sibbald’s pass.

While running the rule over Martins and Schwake Holt has brought in keeper Ryan Schof ield from Huddersfield and brought back Cardiff defender Ciaron Brown on loan.

Holt added: “Ryan was one we’d been monitoring and we think he’s the right fit to come in and offer something to the group.

“We tried to get Ciaron in during the summer because I thought he did really well last season.”
