Our war on bad bosses continues
The Sunday Mail has consistently highlighted unscrupulous employers taking advantage of their workforce over the last year.
Our Horrible Bosses campaign, which started almost a year ago, declared war on employers who rip off their workers.
The series has received support from across the political spectrum and trade union movement.
We have shone a light on the appalling pay and conditions endured by many workers.
An incredible 34,000 Scots are receiving less than the legal minimum wage, we revealed.
We repeatedly highlighted the plight of drivers who work in the courier industry. These so-called self-employed workers deliver goods on behalf of some of the UK’s biggest firms, including Amazon.
Despite the multi-million pound profits the companies enjoy, we revealed how drivers often take home less than the minimum wage.
We even told how one driver, a law student, had to go to court to recover pay.
But poor working conditions aren’t only faced by drivers. We also revealed how canteen staff at Amazon’s Dunfermline HQ faced a brutal existence on minimum wage without contracts.
And we reported on staff at Donald Trump’s five-star Ayrshire hotel who claimed they earned less than the minimum wage while completing 10 shifts in a row. Another of our stories told how a worker at Glasgow’s SEC had endured 15 years of zero-hour contracts that left her using payday loans to survive.
We want to continue to hold horrible bosses to account in 2020. If you know unscrupulous firms that need to be exposed, please get in touch.
