star McKenna then limped off with a hamstring injury in their 2- 0 win over St Mirren, making him a huge doubt for the semi-final with Israel at Hampden later this month.
Jinxed Jambos Souttar has suffered three major injuries in as many years and boss Daniel Stendel said: “He will not play again this season.”
Internat ional team- mate Steven Naismith added: “I’m gutted for him. He’s not a guy who comes off easily. This brutal for him.
“From a Scotland point of view, in each week that has gone by he has done better and better and I know the national manager does like him.
“He’s a guy who is just starting out internationally and wants to kick on and he gets hit with a sledgehammer like that. We’ve got good people around the club who will hopefully push him through.
“With the injuries he’s had it’s not as if they’re muscular and it can be put down to his professionalism, he’s one of the most professional guys I’ve worked with and he’s desperate to get better.
“The next couple of weeks are going to be tough and he has to see a way through them.”
