Jaguar’s stunning F-Type is ultimate gift for Mother’s Day

-

First Edition trim level I drove, these were contrasted with black design cues (for her mean side).

The long signature bonnet is now a clamshell shape with beautiful new Pixel headlights.

The LED daytime running lights are thin and underscore the headlights like bright eyeliner. Let’s just say they look very elegant.

The fast back slopes dynamically to the new bumpers and the tailgate on this, the coupe, is automatic and powered so, with her hands full of shopping, she can still open. And, of course, there is the deployable spoiler at the rear.

Inside, Ins the First Edition has its own two black Windsor leather perperformancef seats with l ight oyster oyst stitching and there are bright metalmet pedals.

Music, M radio and sat nav are all in the 12.3in colour touchscreen and there ther is Bluetooth too – an absolute must mu these days. The image from the reversing camera is here as well and an the USB and 12V connections are below.

You Y will also f ind the switch for the car’s soundtrack at your fingertips. It enhances the great roar you get when you switch on or go through dark tunnels – well, that’s maybe more a boy thing – and next to it in the version I had was a switch for all-wheel driving in snow, ice or rain, or dynamic driving when the instrument cluster goes red. You have been warned.

Mum will love the feeling of this car as she roars along the motorway with you in the passenger seat.

The off icial f igure for getting to 60mph is 4.4 seconds but she might be able to beat that if she really puts her foot down and there’s nothing better than volleying down Scotland’s winding country roads in this car. It just hugs the corners.

What else can I say? There are cheaper versions. The entry level comes in at £54,060, which I guess would do if you are penny pinching.

For the greatest mum in the world, you really have to get a superlative car and the F-Type ticks al l the boxes – not chocolate ones, mind you, but I don’t think she’ll notice if they’re missing.
