OLIVIA BURNHAM, 18

-

Fashion fan Olivia is still at school with a part-time job in a cafe and uses Depop to sell clothes so she can afford to buy new outfits.

Olivia, 18, from Troon, Ayrshire, said: “I don’t have the money to buy lots of clothes but I still want to look nice and I love fashion. So, by selling something on, I can recoup some of the cash

I’ve spent and get money to buy something else.

“I like to mix and match items of clothing. I keep the staple items like my black mom jeans, white blazer and black bandeau top and I’ll wear them with different things.

“I tend to sell on the statement pieces, like a distinctive dress that you can’t wear a different way that I’ve worn a couple of times.

“I wouldn’t wear an exact outfit the same on Instagram – I don’t think anyone does. I had a pink dress where I dressed it down with a T-shirt underneath and Doc Martens and I’ve dressed it up with heels. I posted both pictures but the outfit looked different. Then I sold it.

“I don’t like wearing the same statement outfit more than a couple of times but I don’t want it to go to waste. By selling it on, someone else gets the benefit and I get some money back so I can buy something different.

“Fashion moves very quickly and things go in and out of style quite fast. People can interpret trends in different ways and just because I no longer want to wear something, it doesn’t mean someone else won’t love it.

“I also buy outfits on Depop for a fraction of the original cost and, if they’re still in good condition, I’ll sell them on again afterwards.”
