It looks like brand new and I’ve got a bargain

-

Teenager Eilidh uses Depop to buy cut-price fashion because outfits have previously been worn just once or twice.

Eilidh, 17, from Livingston, who is still at school, searches for dresses she’s spotted online and often snaps them up for half the original price through Depop.

She said: “I’ve bought a couple of dresses for birthday parties that I could probably get on the website for about £50 – but instead I got them on Depop for about half that price. And I’ve bought a few cheaper things for festivals from Depop.

“I tend to hold on to them though and don’t sell them on. I usually try to sell clothes I’m never going to wear again. I made about £50 over the year from selling off my old clothes.

“I have a part-time job but selling old clothes adds on to my wage.

“I used to bother about whether I was seen in the same outfit twice – but now I don’t mind because I don’t have a lot of money.

“So I won’t sell something on just because I’ve worn it a couple of times – as I might wear it again. But I’ll maybe not post pictures on

Instagram of the things I’ve worn before.

“It’s too expensive to keep buying clothes so I hold on to my outfits to give me a wider range to choose from rather than buying things and selling them on.

“You can get some really good bargains on there. I always look up things people are selling and more than likely they’ll be cheaper than they are new on the website. It makes no difference to me if someone has worn it. Stuff I’ve bought has been absolutely fine – it looks like brand new and I’ve got a bargain.”
