Former officer acquitted of attack on kid
E Expat Martin Gal loway was accused of attacking a schoolgirl sch at her 13th birthday party. par It was claimed he was one of three people who targeted tar the alleged victim between bet 2000 and 2006.
G Gal loway was alleged to have hav been allowed to carry out the assault by her mum and stepdad, a Toronto court heard.
A trial was told the 60-year-old – who quit Scotland for North America in 1988 – admitted he had a BDSM ( Bondage, Dominance, Sadism and Masochism) relationship with the mother but denied sexually abusing her daughter in London, Ontario.
A judge acquitted Galloway, claiming there were problems with the rel iabi l ity of the evidence given by the alleged victim and her mum.
The alleged victim, now aged 30, had earlier admitted her memory of abuse was blurred and that she had lied about her mother’s role in an effort to protect her from a police probe.
She later implicated her mother, who pled gui lty to abusing the girl and her two siblings. She is now serving a five-year prison sentence.
The stepfather, a lorry driver, has already served a jail term for abusing the witness and her younger siblings. The trial heard Galloway – who used the online moniker Scotdom – visited the gi rl ’ s home for BDSM sex sessions with her mother when the stepdad was working.
He was originally arrested as par t of the sex abuse investigation in 2017.
Former actor Jason Dickens, who starred in Canadian teen drama Degrassi High, pleaded guilty to child porn offences in connection with the case at a separate hearing.
Just ice Louise Botham called Galloway a “strong and persuasive witness” during the trial last month.
Galloway, who now works as a photographer, was unavailable for comment. His lawyer, Daniel Brown, said the false allegations damaged his client’s business.
