I’D LOVE A GERS RETURN
Club legend Souness eyes seat on Light Blues’ board
Graeme Souness has revealed he’d like to return to Rangers and take a seat on the board.
The former Ibrox boss and club legend hopes to be invited back in a future advisory role.
It comes 24 hours after Dave King stepped down as chairman, leaving Douglas Park and a new Ibrox taskforce to guide the club through the coronavirus crisis and secure fresh investment.
Souness spent five years
at Rangers as player-boss between 1986 and 1991 – and is now a successful Premier League pundit for Sky Sports.
However, the 66-year-old lifelong Gers fan admits he hasn’t ruled out a return.
He told MailSport: “I’d like to be invited back to Rangers in some capacity but it would only be if the people in charge thought I could help.
“One day I would like to go and be on the board in an advisory role. I’m still very active in what I do. I don’t want to be presumptuous or get ahead of myself but that could be one for the future.”
Joe Worrall, meanwhile, has thanked Steven Gerrard and Rangers for transforming him from a Championship also- ran into a potential Premier League superstar.
The defender was frozen out by previous Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka but since returning from his Ibrox loan, he’s starred under new boss Sabri Lamouchi.
Worrall helped Forest into the play-off positions prior to the lockdown and he claims it’s all down to the season he spent at Ibrox.
He said: “It was incredible. I knew all about Rangers before I went up there and I was gobsmacked to be able to have the opportunity.
“Steven Gerrard was brilliant with me. I thought Forest was a big club but Rangers is absolutely humongous.
“When Karanka came in I wasn’t part of his plans so I appreciated the opportunity (to go to Ibrox).
“I took it with both hands and returned a better player.”
