The facility’s ability to generate money has been hit hard by restrictions imposed by the coronavirus lockdown.

Stars and unknown musicians will belt out their songs and nominate friends to do the same before the performances are posted on social media.

David, who is working on his own album that will be released later this year, reckons Calvin and Paolo could help out if their schedule allows. He said: “I’m hoping to get some pretty famous friends and some very talented local musicians involved.

“Coronavirus has had a massive impact on how charities raise money to keep going. So we’re going to do all we can to help.

“I miss Karen terribly. She developed breast cancer and was given the all clear.

“But unknown to us all, it had travelled to her brain.”

David added: “Beck has now got some teeth and he’s been to see me as his dentist. I’m maybe biased but he’s my favourite patient.”

St Andrew’s Hospice have struggled to put on charity nights that help generate funds to look after patients like Karen.

David decided to start Rock The Hospice last week with an aim of raising £10,000.

The first video, posted last Monday, saw him play the song he wrote for Karen – One Last Time – before nominating

Paolo and actor Ryan Fletcher. Former River City star Ryan, 37, posted a version of Ricky Ross’s Most of Me last week, too.

The actor then nominated his Penny worth co- star Paloma Faith to perform.

David said: “I became good friends with Paolo Nutini and I went with him when he played T in the Park in 2011.

“I’m sure there’s going to be few famous faces appearing on

Rock the Hospice as wel l as some very talented musicians that are less well known. Watch this space.”

Louise O’Donnell, deputy head of fundraising at St Andrew’s Hospice, said: “It’s great David has pulled this together so quickly and we appreciate his efforts.

“He’s been a big supporter of the hospice over the years.

“We rely on fundraising throu g h ou r shops and organised nights so coronavirus has had a major impact on our finances.

“We are having to turn to digital means so it’s great for people like David to help out.”
