DRESSED TO KILT

TV assassin targets tartan outfit as she heads north for show

- Jennifer Hyland

She has brought a whole new meaning to having a killer fashion sense.

Now Ki l l ing Eve ’ s deadly Russian assassin Villanelle has added a Scottish designer to her hit list.

Viewers will see the contract killer showcase a tartan coat designed by Charles Jeffrey.

In the latest episode, Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer, is seen wearing his chain trim coat and pleated skirt.

She picks the clothes for a trip to Scotland in a scene where she checks into an Aberdeen hotel.

Fans of the show have clamoured to snap up anything the anti-hero wears in the series, despite the high-end price tags.

But the designer garb she chooses on a mission north of the Border fails to impress her mentor Dasha, played by Harriet Walter, who sneers: “You look ridiculous.”

However, those still keen to emulate Villanelle’s look will need deep pockets.

The coat costs about £1500 while the skirt is about £700.

Hamilton-born designer Charles, 30, paid tribute to his Scottish heritage when he created his own tartan, which has been registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans.

Speaking previously, Charles, who was brought up in Cumbernauld but now lives in London, said: “I love tartan, the history of the kilt and the whole interpretation of Scottish dress.”

The award- winning designer, who studied fashion at Central Saint Martins in London, has had A- list stars such as Harry Styles and Kit Harington lining up to wear his clothes.

The Killing Eve episode, titled Beautiful Monster, wi l l be shown on BBC1 tonight and is already available on iPlayer.

Villanelle also adopts a Scottish accent and plays golf in the latest instalment of the smash-hit show.
