They are some of Scotland’s most beautiful spots and hold treasured memories for some of our biggest stars.
For actor Brian Cox, it will always be the beautiful but haunting Culloden battlefield. And for Lorraine Kelly, it has to be the stunning island of St Kilda. Celebrities from the world of TV, film and entertainment are sharing what they love most about their favourite places, owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Hundreds of them, from coastlines to castles, art to architecture, wildlife to wildernesses, are under threat because of a £28million shortfall as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Good Morning Britain presenter Lorraine and Succession star Brian join Loose Woman Andrea McLean, STV weather STV weather presenter Sean Batty Sean Batty and TV historian Neil Oliver helping the National Trust Save our Scotland appeal.
The charity cares for and protects some of Scotland’s most significant places and spaces such as Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire, Inverewe Garden in Wester Ross, Mar Lodge Estate in Braemar anand Culzean Castle in Ayrshire.
The trust also looks aftafter 76,000 hectares of countryside – that’s the size of about
100100,000 football pitches. This includes 46 Munros, more than 400 islands and islets and eight national nature reserves, including iconic sites such as Glencoe.
Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Brian, 74, said: “If lockdown has taught us anything, it’s how precious our land is and we take it for granted at our peril.”
