Police hurt in Liverpool fan violence

Police officers had glasses and bottles thrown at them in violent confrontat­ions wit h L iverpool fa ns celebratin­g the club’s Premier League win.

Mers e y side Pol ic e Assistant Chief Constable Jon Roy said two officers needed medical treatment for injuries to their backs after bottles were thrown at them as they went to help an assault victim in a crowd of supporters at the Pier Head on Friday night.

He said later a group of about 100 people threw glasses and bottles at riot police as they tried to stop them committing acts of disorder in the city centre.

The club, pol ice and Liverpool City Council said the behaviour was “wholly unacceptab­le”.

The ex-Blue Peter and Wheel of Fortune host bought the house in Edinburgh’s upmarket Morningsid­e for £545,000 in 2016.

Built in 2003, the property has three bedrooms and a back garden boasting views of the city skyline.

Leslie, 55, is hoping to make a profit on the detached villa and it has been put on the market for offers over £ 610,000.

The home is kitted out with modern decor and the kitchen includes an expensive Aga stove “creating a cosy family hub”, according to estate agents Ralph Hendrie Legal.

The sales brochure also says the house has a garden that “overlooks The Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill Nature Reserve with views of Edinburgh”.

It adds: “Boasting contempora­ry and generous interiors and impressive outdoor space, this traditiona­l three-bedroom stone- built detached villa offers an exceptiona­lly spacious and f lexible family home over two levels.”

Leslie, who also fronted This Morning at the height of his career, once built a home in Richmond, Surrey, but was forced to sell it for £ 3.5million when his career hit the skids.

He went from earning about £350,000 a year to “not a penny”.

Leslie moved back to Edinburgh and started investing in property to make a living.

The former star renovated several flats and a nursing home in London but was hit hard by the 2008 financial crash.

After renting out his Richmond home for a number of years, Leslie sold it in 2010.
