Barca’s title tilt falters

- ROUND UP

Goalscorer Luis Suarez admitted his Barcelona side are hurting after dropping another two points in their La Liga title chase.

A 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo hands the advantage to Real Madrid after the Blaugrana twice went ahead through Suarez but Fyodor Smolov and Iago Aspas rescued the troubled Balaidos side.

It’s another dismal result at Celta’s ground, where Barcelona haven’t won a game since 2015.

Real now face Espanyol tonight in the knowledge a win will put them ahead of Barca by two points with six games remaining.

Lionel Messi assisted both of Suarez’s goals but the South American connection couldn’t seal the win.

Suarez said: “I’m happy to have been able to help the team with my goals but I’m left with sensations of anger and frustration.

“We had our fate in our own hands but now we have to wait for Real Madrid to slip up here and there.

“We ’ re feel ing ver y negative because we have lost two more points in the fight for the title.”

In Germany, Timo Werner signed off in style in his final game for RB Leipzig.

The Che lsea- bound striker scored twice in a 2-1 win at Augsburg that sealed third place for Leipzig in the f inal weekend of the Bundesliga. Ruben Vargas scored for the home side.

It’s the second time in as many seasons the club have finished third behind title winners Bayern Munich and runners-up Dortmund.

Werner said: “I wanted to have fun with my team-mates who I’ve spent the last four years with here and get another win.

“And I think we did that very well.

“When I’m on my way home there will be a lot of nostalgia.”

Monchengladbach’s 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin sees them finish fourth through strikes from Jonas Hofmann and Breel Embolo.

At the bottom, Werder Bremen face a play- off to stay up but their 6-1 win over Cologne means Fortuna Dusseldorf are relegated.
