Officers hunt street attacker

Pol ice are invest igat ing after a man was found lying seriously injured on a street in the early hours of Saturday.

The man is thought to have been assaulted in Kilwinning.

He was discovered in the Ayrshire town at 1.15am and taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment.

Police Scotland are asking anyone who may have seen something from their homes to come forward.

Detective inspector Laura Young, of Ayrshire CID, said: “There are a number of f lats that overlook the area where the man was found and we are asking anyone who may have seen something from their home to get in touch.

“If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please contact police.”
