Fearne I swapped parties for books
She built a reputation as a DJ and party girl but Fearne Cotton admits she now prefers an early night tucked up with a book.
And the 38- year- old says she has been giving biographies more attention in the bedroom than husband Jesse Wood, son of Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie.
Fearne said: “If I’m not in bed reading a book by half nine, there’s something seriously wrong.
“I get greedy having my own time because it feels like there’s so little of it. I need to get in bed and have no one near me and be in my own little book world.
“But then I’m going, ‘Oh my God, I need to give my marriage some energy.’ It’s a tough thing to balance.”
Fearne and musician Jesse, 43, have two young children and celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary yesterday.
They met when Fearne was on a girls’ holiday in Ibiza in 2011, calling the evening “a game-changing, very drunken night out I’m forever grateful for”.
Back then, she was a Radio 1 DJ and would spend her time at festivals partying with rock stars and celeb pals. She was also a regular on Celebrity Juice with best mate Holly Willoughby.
She has since made the move to Radio 2 to host the Sound of the 90s show. And after having kids, she reckons she is nowhere near as cool.
Fearne said: “I’m not fun any more. I am not, it’s gone. I think it’s a hard thing to do, especially when your kids are little, to not lose yourself.”
