and said he wanted to make sure he didn’t get any blood on me.”

Ex- rugby player Damien recovered items Brown had stolen during his crime spree last month. The haul included World War I memorabilia and medals.

The personal trainer took amugshot of Brown while the pair waited for officers to arrive at his home in Perth.

He put the image on Facebook and various people identified the thief, who managed to f lee. Police picked him up within minutes and took him to hospital for treatment to a face wound.

Brown, who wanted officers to charge Damien with assault, was jailed for 18 months at Dundee Sheriff Court after he admitted having a knife at an address on May 2. He also admitted breaking into two homes on the same street and stealing items including jewellery and a razor.

Solicitor Linda Clark, defending, said Brown had stolen from the garages at both properties and had offered little resistance when he was caught.

She said: “He has had a drug problem for some time. On this occasion, he had taken valium and does not have much recollection of what happened. He had a significant injury to his eye and was taken to Ninewells Hospital and is being investigated for possible plastic surgery.”

Brown was dubbed the “lowest of the low” when he committed offences in a hospital, a sports centre and a veterans’ war museum in a single afternoon in 2018.

Damien added: “I’m glad the case is over. It’s been a bad experience.”
