Car bomb hits port

An explosion shook the Somali capital of Mogadishu as a suicide bomber drove a car into a checkpoint.

There was no immediate comment on casualties in yesterday’s blast.

At the city’s Madina hospital, nurse Halima Nur said it had received five people injured in the explosion for treatment.

Somalia has been mired in conf l ict since 1991, when clan wa rlord s overthrew dictator Siad Barre and then turned on each other.
