Canaries look doomed but Kenny won’t give up fight

- FRASER WILSON

Kenny McLean has vowed to keep fighting to save his Premier League dream despite boss Daniel Farke admitting Norwich had blown their last chance to avoid relegation.

The Scotland star couldn’t stop the Canaries losing 1- 0 to Brighton at Carrow Road - their fourth successive defeat since the English top f light returned from the Covid shutdown.

It leaves Norwich seven points from safety with just five games left, having

played a game more than many of their drop rivals.

Boss Farke admitted last season’s Championship winners were now destined for the drop.

He said: “We are all disappointed because we knew it was more or less a last chance today to be back in the mix.

“We are not relegated but we all knew it was our last chance and of course we are disappointed with the outcome.

“I want my players after the game to be devastated if the outcome is not there because it is important for them to have this and value the good moments.

“We are unbelievably disappointed, it’s a tough day.”

But former Aberdeen and St Mirren star McLean isn’t giving up the ghost.

The midfielder said: “It was frustrating but we gave everything. This league is so unforgiving. Sometimes you give everything and don’t get the results, you can’t argue. We’ve found it tough this season but we’ll continue.

“It’s looking pretty bleak, let’s not put it any other way. But whi le it’s mathematically still possible we’ll keep working and even beyond that we’ll keep working because we keep moving.

“I’m sure everyone will have a bit of pride and do as well as they can.”
