Ed: One body is enough

-

Eddie Hearn has revealed he wants to abolish the sanctioning boxing bodies to have just one corporation running the sport.

The Matchroom Boxing chief is determined to return to the golden era when each weight division had only one world champion.

And Hearn said: “My drive is to control boxing.

“That’s the only way I see 100 per cent pure success in my head, to control the sport globally and have a single entity running boxing like the UFC does.

“If I don’t create that then I don’t think I’ll ever get to where I want it to be.” Graeme Dott is hoping his vast experience will help him qualify for this year’s World Championship.

The 2006 world champion has to win two tough qual i fying matches to guarantee his participation i n sno o k e r ’ s mo s t prestigious tournament.

And Dot t , who has completed in three World finals, knows the pressure to qualify will be ramped up to another level. He said: “I’ve been to the Crucible and won the Worlds but I’m still under as much pressure as the guy who has never been there.”

England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been handed a fine and an official warning by the England and Wales Cricket Board for breaching the team’s bio-secure protocols.

However, he was cleared to play in the third test against West Indies.

Meanwhile, West Indies will begin day four of the second Test on 32-1 in reply to England’s 469-9 declared after the third day was washed out.

Katie Boulter triumphed at tennis’ Progress Tour Women’s Championships, coming back from a set down to beat Jodie Burrage 3- 6 7- 6 (7- 4) 6-2.

Bari McKenzie insists he’s thrilled to be the first player to put their name on Fife Flyers’ ice hockey roster for next season.

The 33- year- old Scots forward said: “It is a big relief to get things sorted.”
