IT’S WET & WIN DAY FOR WELL

Robbo’s side are blowing hot

Stephen Robinson reckons his team had a stormer as they blew away the Lions in gale-force winds.

Motherwell made it back to back wins for the first time this season after Cal lum Lang and Tony Watt struck to build on last week’s home victory over Ross County.

They are banging on the door of the top six following an impressive display in howling West Lothian gales.

Robinson’s side made the most of having the wind behind them to open up a two-goal half-time lead, then held firm in the second period when Livi were in their faces.

The Fir Park gaffer said: “This is hard to play on at the best of times but when you put the wind machine in as well it is really difficult.

“I thought our boys showed good composure in the first half. It was a good defensive performance in difficult conditions .

“That is four out of five now and we haven’t conceded a goal in those four games that we have won. Good results are built on a solid defensive line – Declan Gallagher, Mark O’Hara and the whole back four were outstanding.

“At times when we needed it we had quality up front, especially our first goal, and it could have been three or four at half- time. Second half we had real discipline, it wa s a professional performance from the boys.”

Devante Cole beat Marvin Bartley to the ball and played in Lang for the f irst. The striker had plenty to do but superbly spun inside and tucked the ball through Max Stryjek’s legs at the near post.

Well pounced again right on half-time to make it 2- 0.

O’Hara’s free-kick through the wall was beaten out by Stryjek. The Lions defence dithered but Watt didn’t and buried the rebound.

Robinson added: “We won’t build the team up too much. We certainly don’t believe we are the finished article.

“There is a lot to improve on and hopefully a bit of luck turns our way with injuries.”
