KETTLE’S ON THE BOIL!

Put cash on this star

- ■ Joe Punter

Put The Kettle on (2.25) can produce yet another stylish show at Cheltenham.

The young star was a surprise winner of last term’s Arkle for Henry de Bromhead despite bolting up on this card 12 months ago.

The mare now takes on the two-mile elite in the Shloer Chase. However, there is plenty more to come from this unexposed type who can show her rivals a clean pair of heels back here.

I was originally going to back Proscema in the brutally competitive Greatwood Hurdle but I’m switching to TEGEREK (3.00) for a few reasons.

There was much to like about his victory over One True King here last month and the second franked that form back at this track on Friday.

Trainer Jonjo O’Neill also has young Kevin Brogan on board and the kid is on fire. The seven-pound claimer is on top form and full of confidence.

THIRD TIME LUCKI (3.35) can boost his Supreme Novices’ Hurdle claims for Team Skelton.

The five-year-old has been blistering this term and he can strike again, albeit at a skinny price.

It still hurts to recall that DISCORAMA (1.50) failed to get home in the 2019 Festival four-miler. However, he’s still got plenty of ability as shown by his third in the Ultima in March and Paul Nolan’s decision to miss some major options in Ireland looks significant.

He’s had a recent pipe opener and Robbie Power is a dab hand on these staying chasers.

There will also be plenty of Festival clues on offer at Punchestown but small fields will make it hard to make any cash. CHRISTMAS IN APRIL (3.15) is worth a bet in the Southern National at Fontwell. Colin Tizzard’s horses are just starting to fire after a quiet spell and the gelding is proven over the marathon trips.
