Danny would be Hibee to banish blues

- Neil Robertson

Danny Mullen is desperate to finally banish his bad memories of Easter Road by helping Dundee dump Hibs this afternoon.

The striker’s previous visit to Leith with St Mirren lasted just 17 minutes after an ank le injur y that sidelined him for months.

Now, thou g h , the 24-year- old is determined to continue his blistering start to life at Dens.

Mullen, who scored his third goal of the season in Tuesday’s 3- 0 Betfred Cup win over Cove, said: “We had a good result against Cove and I think we are getting better every week.

“As a team we are growing in confidence which should stand us in good stead for the big game against Hibs.

“A couple of seasons ago, I injured my ankle when I was playing there, so touch wood nothing like that happens again.

“We drew 2-2 that day but I had to get an operation after the game. I had started well but I just stood on somebody’s foot and rolled my ankle.

“I needed surgery so I don’t have the best memories of playing at Easter Road.

“I’d like to write some good memories this time.”

Mullen’s game time was limited in Paisley but he is thriving from getting a regular run.

He said: “I thought I took my goal well on Tuesday. I took it on my chest, my knee, then a couple of keepy- uppies before passing it into the net.

“I didn’t think it was that good at the time but I saw it back and everyone was raving about it.

“It was a good ball from Charlie Adam and that’s my third goal for the club now.”

Mullen is sure he will add to his tally with ex-Scotland star Adam supplying the ammunition.

He said: “I am creating a partnership with Charlie, learning about the balls he plays in training every day.”
