Breach denied

Celtic are certain they don’t have a case to answer.

Clubs operate under strict guidelines laid down by the Scottish government and the SPFL.

And a Celtic statement said: “The photo was taken and published weeks ago and undertaken with all established protocols.

“We will happily discuss this with the Scottish Government should they wish to do so.

“Celtic’s own stringent protocols have ensured that, to date, following thousands of individual tests, we have recorded no positive cases within our squad with the only cases affecting the club being recorded while our players have been away on international duty.”

The video shows 31 members of the club’s firstteam squad and coaching staff huddled together for the images before breaking off for individual snaps.

MailSport understands the squad were only together for a few seconds

and all players and backroom staff in their bubble tested negative just before the picture was taken.

Jason Leitch reacted after nine Tannadice players and manager Micky Mellon had to self isolate after being deemed close contacts of three staff who tested positive.

He said: “We now know that some people in that photograph were positive and were in their infectious period when the photograph was taken.

“I was, to say the least, a little surprised to see 49 people in a non-distanced club photograph.

“That didn’t seem to me to be something that fits in with the guidelines.”

The SPFL is unlikely to take action over the photo, but it could become a matter for the SFA.

A Scottish government statement added: “If the examples highlighted do prove to have happened, we would consider them deeply disappointing and irresponsible, and would expect this to be taken extremely seriously by the football authorities.”
