It’s not a 7-day wonder

-

Henderson and matchwinner David Turnbull all caught the eye as the Hoops closed the Europa League campaign with a win over Lille on Thursday.

It signalled a possible turning of the corner for Celtic and Lennon said: “We have been through a tough period but I am pleased we have come out the other side of it.

“We are not getting carried away and saying ‘ Right these players are done, this is new age Celtic’. You have to do it bit by bit.

“It is a hugely exciting period. We have to chase down our rivals in the league and have a Cup Final coming up which is something to really look forward to.”

Celtic’s hopes of having James Forrest back for the Old Firm clash on January 2 have been crushed.

His rehab from surgery

to cure a stress fracture of an ankle sustained in September continues.

Lennon is confident the 29-year-old will be back in action later next month with fel low long- term absentee Mikey Johnston back within weeks.

He said: “James is coming off the crutches at the weekend so we are probably looking at the end of January.

“Mikey is back in training and will play 45 minutes with the development team on Monday. It may be cameo performances from Mikey as we work on his fitness.”

Lennon revealed Covid has slowed the progress Karamoko Dembele.

He said: “He is 17 and it is dif ficult for the kids because there is no real games programme this year (due to Covid 19).

“We just have to be patient. He is a quality player but physically he has a bit of development to do to be part of the firstteam squad.”
